I am about to go through the 92 hour course offered for out of state officers in april with my newly hired police department being my sponsors, after this I am going to take the state test for certification. Does anyone have some info on this test, is it like scenario based, simple Q&A, or what, I know they changed it to you have to pass the whole test with a 80% and not the four sections, they combined the whole test for a passing of 80%. I just want some info on what kind of test the new one is, like number of questions, kind, stuff like that, any help will be a big help..thanks

The state exam has a lot of scenario questions , it has a few of striaght out questions. I took it back in december. Its a 350 question exam. If you study hard you will do good, good luck.

Do they give you a study guide or text book to help you study for this exam? is it possible for you to explain a little bit on what kind of scenerio questions are in the exam? Just trying to prepare myself to do my best, it just seems like alot of questions and a hard score to pass. Thanks

No study guides, but everything that in the exam is covered in the academy. For you it would be covered in the 92 hour course, they should give you the state objectives to study(but those are not study guides).

If you are taking it in St Pete they will give a huge binder that contains the whole basic recruit curriculum. That in itself is the only thing you need to study to pass the state exam. If you have more questions let me know, its been over 1 1/2 years since I did the course but will do my best to answer them.

Stay focused on the test.......do not read too much into it. There are 5 diffent sections and you cannot make less than an 80 on all of the sections. Good luck and let us know.
