For those in the DFW metroplex, I completed the testing with Arlington PD on friday March 22. Everything went extremely smoothly and was actually very easy. I must admit that I was very nervous after hearing how difficult this department was to test with. The panel interview went very well. All panel members were very easy going, friendly, and very conversational. I honestly don't think it took 20 minutes. I guess I just happened to get the right panel. All members seemed to like what I had to say and seemed fairly impressed that I had an advanced degree. Some of the applicant's interviews didn't seem to go as smoothly and were a great deal longer. I also noticed that numerous applicants failed to show for the physical agility testing after their interviews. I would assume something prevented them from moving along in the process any farther. The physical agility was very doable. I was somewhat worried about the running portion due to the stairs, but it was actually pretty easy. I just wanted to thank all of you who sent me suggestions, advice and kind words of encouragement. Everything was a great help. I found Arlington to be an extremely nice area with lots of great appeal. Obviously, I didn't get to see all of the town, but I liked the little I did see very much. Thanks for all of the help guys. Good luck to all and I hope to become a fellow DFWer in the near future. Thanks! Pilotmep, I passed through Weatherford coming and going. How long does it take you to get to work? Just wondering because it seems like a good little drive. Take care all.

Glad to hear that everything went well in Arlington. My top choices are also in the DFW area, but it will be awhile till my time comes, with the military and all. Good luck with them and I hope it all works out!!

Congrats, rockyraider, on getting that far with A.P.D.
You won't go wrong if you get hired there.

I work in the S.E. area of Ft. Worth. It takes me about 35 minutes to get to work everyday. My district borders Arlington so maybe I'll see you out there one day. Good Luck!!:acop:

MsKippie and Pilotmep,
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am very relieved that the testing and interview went so well. Sorry my inbox was full, sometimes if I don't empty it every few days it gets full before I realize it. I have emptied it, so please feel free to re-send your messages if you would like. I am very interested in hearing what you have to say. I am really hoping for the job and to be selected for the May 20th academy. I was very impressed by everything I saw, from the training academy to the area itself. Thanks again and please take care!

Just a quick update for anyone interested. I got a call today from a background investigator at Arlingtona and she informed me that I had been assigned to her and that I will need to take a poligraph on the 3rd or 4th of April. She also informed me that I was being processed for the May 20th academy. I can't believe that everything is going so smoothly up to this point. APD really must have a streamlined process. I think some of it may have to do with the fact that they do not have any formal testing besides the oral panel and the physical agility. I don't foresee any problems whatsoever with the poly, the background, or the medical exam. Hopefully I'll see you guys in the DFW by late May! Thanks and good luck to all. Please take care.
