An Illinois sheriff's deputy was killed in the line of duty last night. it happened in Toulon, northwest of Peoria. Authorities say a 60-year-old man shot and killed Stark County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Streicher.
The shooting happened as Streicher tried to serve the man with a warrant for failing to appear in court. The suspect shot Streicher, stole his gun and squad car then drove to a nearby home where he killed a couple.
The suspect was then wounded in a gun battle and is in serious condition.
