Got a FedEx package to day from INS. It was an Inquiry of Availability for a GS-1811-5 position at the Hartford, CT office. I faxed in the application tonight. I spoke to the personnel staffer at the field office and was told that selections will be made 7 days after the certificate expires (4/12/02) so on 4/19. I got this letter based on my score (105 including Vet pref.) on the INS Officer Corps exam from June'01. Unfortunately this is the 3rd such letter I've received in the past 10 months and I didn't get selected for the first 2. As a result, this is one FedEx that has ceased to get me excited. However, as many wise people have said on this board.....you have a zero chance if you don't apply! Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted. Anyone else hear anything?

Got the same, or almost the same package for the NYC office. It is for a Deportation Officer position. Looks like INS is doing some hiring. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Remember, transferable skills section in your resume. I'm sure that is what got me noticed.
