Hi all...

This is my first post here and I was just wondering what you thought my chances might be with the USSS as a S/A. I have no LEO or military experience. I am 32 years old. My last job was as an investment representative. I have the Series 7 and Series 63 licenses (the licences required to sell securities/investments). I thought this experience might relate to the mission of protecting the nation's financial systems. Prior to working as an investment rep. I was a small business owner for 6 years. So I have a good deal of experience working independently and making decisions on my own. I also have a college degree. What do you think?

Thanks for any input.

I've already read the USSS website and the job announcement. I am definately interested in the job. I am also in the process of filling out the application packet. I was just wondering if there is anybody on the board that has any experience with the USSS that might be able to give me any input on my chances, especially considering I have no LEO or military experience.

From what I've seen on this site you should be an o.k. candidate with the S.S., and don't forget the FBI with your investment exp.
I'm an engineer with some computer certs. which both agencies like right about now. I have no L.E. experience at all either and I've just started both processes. I'm sure they'll both like your money experience just fine to get the process rolling.

Serge,
I have no LEO experience and no military. I work with businesses and and computers and I'm waiting on my polygraph results. Soooooo what I'm saying is I'm pretty far along in the process and I think you could make it too. You have just a good a chance as anyone. The important thing is to impress them in interviews and testing.

Serge-
The Secret Service is always hiring Special Agents. No Vacancy Announcement necessay. Call your local Field Office and ask them with whom you should speak to send a resume. Once you have the proper channel, send him/her a cover letter--with a clear elucidation as to why you believe you can be an asset to the Agency, along with your resume. You should hear something in a few weeks. That's how it worked for me. You have some real strenghts, having worked with securities and all. Having taken and passed the Series 7 shows not only intellectual capacity, but drive and determination as well. Good luck!
