I was just wondering if anyone has any insight as to the FAM training!! Is it mostly physical or is much emphasis placed on the academics? I heard that firearms and close quarter defensive tactics courses are extremly demanding. Any truth to that? Please advise. FEDORBUST.

We've lost a bunch of guys from my station going to FAM(6 officers). I believe one of the most important things there is in regards to FAM training is being able to shoot. Not sure how true although I have heard that quite a few people wash out of the academy for not being a good enough shot.

It depends on if you go to the 1 week course or the 6 week course at FLETC. At the 1 week course you shoot the standard FLETC qual and you have to shoot a 255 or higher. Within the year you have to qual on the FAM TPC course. If you do the 6 week course I think you might shoot the TPC course. I'm not 100% positive on the 6 week course. Go to the Federal Air Marshal forum.
