Sydney HWPman dies in crash

A POLICE officer has been killed in a car crash near Gosford north of Sydney. The senior constable in his 30s was on highway patrol when his car collided with a power pole at Woy Woy at about 6.10pm (AEST), police said. The officer based at Woy Woy was killed instantly, however police have not released the officer’s name.

Senior Constable Chris Thornton was travelling north along Hillveiw Street in Woy Woy about 6.10pm yesterday, when the marked vehicle he was driving crashed into a power pole. The 35-year-old police officer died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
