The above article indicated that the responding constables were unarmed. Can anyone explain why there are still places in this world where police officers are not armed????

My thoughts and prayers are with Constable Taylors colleagues, friends, and family.

JDM, I worked as a traffic cop in New Zealand before leaving for Australia and joining the job there. The reason they are unarmed in NZ is due to their continual policy of following Mother England. Most English cops are unarmed and NZ is a very English little country. If you consider that about 14 of the 26 murdered NZ officers were shot and killed, you really have to wonder. NZ has a number of Armed Offender Squads positioned around the country, but what use are they when the Patrol officer is under fire? I love being armed now and would never again work without a firearm.
