will using marijuana more times than the guidlines set forth by most fed agencies 100% disqualify me.
for instance if the FBI says no more than 10 times and i have tried it 15 will i be DQ'ed mo matter what other qualifications i have?
I would say yes, but you should ask a recruiter. Also, I think the USSS is the only one left with it's limit as low as 10. Is that your situatiuon or just an example?
ATF is no more than 10 and it is an absolute.
I believe the FBI is 15 times max, not within the last 36 months.

I have seen the "Automatic Disqualifier" portion of the FBI application you are referring to. You can take that for truth. If your answer is yes to that question, you will not be considered as a viable candidate. Now I have also heard that in most cases the FBI will not consider you if you have any past experimentation. They won't automatically disqualify the person that tried MJ a couple times, but that person's chances for a job offer are not that good either.
You can take the written rules for gospel. The minimum qualifications are just that. They are the bear minimum qualifications you need to be considered. After that you have to prove you are a better candidate than the guy standing next to you.
The unwritten rules seem to vary by the agency and by the evaluator. Is the product you present worth what some evaluators view as a risk? Why should we hire you when there is another applicant who does not show any negative items on their application? Challenge yourself with this question, and be honest with yourself. Someone else will be asking you the same thing.
My advice to you is to research all the agencies you are interested in. There are a lot of them out there. Look for automatic disqualifiers first. You can usually tell from the application forms they have you fill out. Don't waste your time if you don't have the minimum requirements. Take the unwritten rules you hear with a grain of salt. There is a reason those rules are not written in stone. If you have the minimum requirements you will be considered. It's up to you to prove yourself. Go forward until they tell you they don't want you. You may be surprised with the outcome.
