I am on the prowl for a pair of shoes or boots for the academy, and am open to suggestion. I need them to be comfortable and capable of a high shine. Right now, for my training program at the jail, I am wearing a pair of RedWing boots, very comfy, but they don't give the black glass shine I was hoping for. All suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!

Diva,

First, I was just wondering what agency you work for. I was also hired by a S.O., south of SF a little and I know they have an academy in Jan. (Although I'll be going in May) and I also have to start in the jail. Now, about the boots. I have researched this and have now bought a couple of pairs. My agency said I would need 3 pr. for the academy. One for everyday wear, an inspection pair and a range pair. Everyone's opinion on brands is different and so are all of the boots. I asked a similar question on here and a lot of people bad-mouthed Rocky brand...but I bought a pair and they seem comfortable so far and shine real well. Apparently Danner is a well-liked brand, but a tad on the pricey side. So, buy a pair and try em out. If they suck, you'll be a little wiser. See what everybody is wearing at the academy and compare the brands.
