Hi:

I've got my panel interview upcoming for the SA vacancy and I'm continuing to endeavor to learn as much about the USSS, it mission and the day-to-day lives of SAs.

Toward that end, I've read conflicting accounts of which firearm special agents are issued. One interview with an SAC indicated Sig 9mm (also indicated that they carry an ASP collapsible baton), another report stated the Glock 19s, and yet another stated a .357 magnum. Anyone know which firearm?

Best regards,

Minotaur

I agree - while it's good to be prepared for an interview, I don't think any interview panel is going to ask you about firearms. And in my expereince, applicants who actually brought this topic up on their own seemed to come across as being a bit over-the top, if you know what I mean (not that you would do it, but applicants who seem overly concerned with peripherals like cars and guns are not going to endear themselves to an interviewer, because neither of those things are really what an agency is all about).

If I were you, I'd concentrate on preparing for questions about the agency's mission, balancing investigative vs. protective duties and how much of each you'll be doing, financial crimes, counterfeiting, and things like that. Maybe try to find a web site where you can pull up USSS' latest published annual (or even quarterly) report so you can see where they've been expending most of their resources.
