View Full Version : Anybody shoot the Sig 239?
My agency requires all Sig arms for off duty carry and I was wonderinf if anyone has a compact Sig P239 or shot one before? What is your opinion of the weapon? Thanks in advance.

I have not shot the 239 in several years but as I recall: It was almost to small for me. When I pulled the trigger the tip of my index finger hit the frame before the trigger broke, if I had the first joint of my index finger on the trigger. This was rather disconcerting and caused me to not like the 239 much. If Sig has a longer trigger, it would be better. Also I've heard people talk about installing the thicker rubber hogue grips and they said this helped but I haven't handled any personally.
I assume your agency issues either 229s, 228s, 226s, or 220s. If this is the case you should be just fine. I carry my 220 in a FIST IWB holster when it's hot out. It's the ultra thin kydex type and I've worn it in Vegas with shorts and a polo worn un-tucked and been fine. In cooler weather I use a belt holster (any one of several) and an untucked flannel or sweatshirt.
The 239s are good quality though so check one out and if it fits your hand and you want a smaller off duty piece, go for it.
Good luck, stay safe, K9
P.S. I should mention, I don't have large hands.
The 239 is a great gun. Very concealable, good trigger pull.
I bought a 239 about a month ago and I really enjoy shooting it. I did put the hogue grips on it. The grips made a world of difference. I carry it as my back-up and off duty weapon.
I have one and love it. I also put the hogue grips on mine and it made a huge impact on my shooting. It is a great little gun.
Thanks guys! I'm issued the P229 which is a great weapon for it's size, I was just curious if the P239 was a good off duty weapon for wearing normal jeans and shorts. I'm going to see if I can rent one for a day or something and try it out, otherwise I'll try and find a better concealement holster for the P229.
239 w/ Hogue's is pure sweetness.
I'v had the 239 for just over a year and put around 600 rounds through it. I bought it just for off duty and love it but the first thing I did was replace the grip with Hogue and buy two holsters.
One was a Don Hume H726-H and the other was a Kydex type. I wear shorts every day during the summer and never had a problem but I'm thinking of getting a IWB holster to try it out. Bottom line is the 239 is a great weapon
