I am a firefighter serving in England with 15 years experience, and would like to transfer and live in the USA. Can anybody help on this? Are there any firefighters who have transferred from England or do you know of anybody? Is it difficult to get a work permit/visa? Will I have to start again and completely retrain? Please help!
It isn't easy Yorky and in your case practically impossible. You need to find an FD willing to sponsor you for a green card (permanent residency). They must be able to prove to the US federal govt. that there are NO US citizens available for the job. This is not going to be easy considering none of your certifications will be accepted here, and there are always firefighter applicants who are US citizens.
If you do find that FD and can persuade them to help, you must then travel here at your expense and pass their tests. One of the first requirements will be a state drivers license. You cannot get one unless you are a state resident. See the problem? That is one of many issues you will face. Good luck.

I would not look at immigrating to the USA on an employee visa. As stated above, it is difficult. Instead take it in two steps.
1st - Figure out how you are going to come here as an immigrant. Be it employment, family member, etc. There are quite a few options.
2nd - Now that you are here, even if only conditionally you can begin your hunt. You will almost definitely have to start at the bottom (rookie) again. Some don't mind. Some find it more difficult than they ever imagined.
Keep the faith. Your goal is not impossible. Simply more difficult and farther down the road than some.
Good Luck.
