Has anyone shot the new Springfield Armory XD? I'm 2 months away from turning 21 and starting to look for my first gun. In any of the posts I read, I didn't see anything about Springfield Armory, does that mean something? Let me know...thanks

I dont own one but from everything I read and hear most people enjoy them very much. I havent really heard bad things about them at all. Lot of people that have glocks compare them and say they run neck and neck with the Glocks except the trigger is shorter pull and smoother. Big thing between the two that makes people lean to them over the glock is the hand barrel angle. Lot of people say it is more natural angle and easier to acquire shots. Now all you Glock lovers dont jump on me at all :) I dont know personally as this is just what I have read on gun forums about the XD line. I have never owned an XD but did own a Glock for a very short period.

Check this forum out for more on the XD:

I do know that springfield makes a good quality 1911 style pistol.

Take care and hope it helps some.

The firearm you are talking about is not made by Springfield Armory but some other company in Europe. It was marketed as the HS200 and did not sell well at all.

Try performing a search here and you will find some people who wrote about it some time ago. Also perform searches in www.shooters.com and www.americanshooter.com. I think that both have information on the gun.

Right the 2000 is a different weapon than the XD but my understanding is that the website I posted is for both firearms.

I'm planning on buying the XD in the the 40 cal... sweet, sweet weapon i tell ya. smooth action, trigger pull is a little bit longer than the glock, however the springfields are safer.... have a safety in the backstrap (glock doesn't) and one in the trigger (like the glock), also has a firing pin indicator to see if it's loaded or not... shoots real smooth... if you hold off for a while yet, they are coming out with models with night sights already on them from the factory. they are also coming out with a compensated model(s). However one downside to it, right at the moment, there is not a lot of accessories readily available for them. i.e. holsters and mag pouches... several brands "carry" them or are in the proccess or introducing a holster or mag pouch for it. I've been having a hard time with trying to get a hold of a specific holster (the raptor) from safariland... they haven't came out with the holster in that model that fits it so far... soooo that's why I'm holding off on it until about march. I'm so accustomed to the raptor holster, and I'd rather not have to change holsters if I need not... well my two cents
