Lapd Officers, Equipment Question

To any LAPD officers, what brand/ model holster does the dept issue or require, i want to order a swivel holster like I see LAPD officers wearing, but I want the best one I can get, Im sure LAPD has done their homework. Also what brand shirt\ pants do you wear? Any help?

LAPD is pretty strict in regards to equipment. They even outline exactly where on the duty belt each piece is suuposed to be positioned.
The swivel holster is an outdated design, but may still be approved. Check out www.lapd.org

There are a couple of swivel holsters that are authorized. They're not issue, but are optional at each officer's expense. Unfortunately the best one made by Hoyt Holster Company is no longer available - they are out of business. The other one is made by Ted Blocker or Blocker Holsters, don't recall what their current name is. It's certainly serviceable, but not as nice as the Hoyt.

As to uniforms I buy Horace Small or Fecheimer uniform pants and Conqueror or Elbeco shirts. All wool, no polyester.

I don't work for LAPD, but a neighboring Dept. in SoCal. Uniforms are the same.

personally if i you you and just joing LAPD i would hold off on that kind of thing until you have been there a couple of years. just my 2 cents and that's what it is worth i am sure

CHP just had an officer in Concord, CA get into a knock down drag out fight with an EDP at the end of a pursuit. The EDP grabbed the officer's holstered firearm and tore the holster away from the swivel. I wasn't there so I don't know whether the swivel failed or the leather above/below the swivel tore.

Three other officers in the fight responded in kind by opening up on the suspect who was now holding the first officer's gun. He's no longer emotionally disturbed. As a matter of fact he no longer has emotions or even a hearbeat.

I don't know what brand holster the officer had but there can't be too many manufacturers out there for the S&W 40.
