Regarding the Physical Fitness Testing at city and state departments (I am applying to Illlinois State Police, Champaign IL Police, and Chicago Surburbs), do you need to try and exceed the standards as much as possible, or just pass? For instance, if you weight 160 lbs, and bench 165 lbs, will you be higher on the list if you can bench 220 lbs?
Thanks!

When I went for my power test in Mchenry County I had to do the minimum then on to the next test. The only thing that you can exceed in is the stretch and the run so the power test is not a ranking factor. It is given merely to see if you can pass the (same) physical test given before and at the end of the academy. What gives you your rank on the list is how you do on the written and possibly the oral interview. Good luck!!!!

Its not a bad thing to excell but with the Chicago test, there are so many people taking it that the people running the test won't remember you anyways. Just pass the test and move on to the next exam.
