Hello all
I was just wondering for the people who took the fit test for US Marshals, how many minutes do you get to do the sit ups test and push ups
thank you

I have not taken the FIT yet, however according to the medical paperwork I received from USMS the Fitness Assessment consists of the following:
1. Flexibility sit and reach test.
2. One minute sit up test.
3. One minute push up test.
4. 1.5 mile run, 3 mile walk or times bicycle test.
This from Form USM-522 (Rev. 02/01)

PS., I have my Interview on the 9th in Ft Lauderdale, if I pass it, I move onto the Medical, if I pass that I move onto the FIT, all in one day, oh joy :bounce:

This must be new if you just received your paperwork? How are they administering this FIT?

Well, shoudl I make it passed the interview, and make it all teh way to the FIT I will let you know how they do this, but I imagine that they stick to the Run, probably done on a track somewhere. I'm guessing the Walk or Bike test is reserved for those that may have some sort of injury during the interview that will prevent them from obtaining a decent score on the run. I'm guessing you walk three miles eithere on a treadmill in a certain time, or they pace you and get your heart rate when you are done. In any event your guess is as good as mine.
Perhaps someone who has taken the FIT will chime in and explain exactly what the Walk or Bike test entail.

I've done the FIT and have no clue what the walk or bike is about.....never even seen it.

I am a USMS fit coordinator, meaning I administer the test. I have never heard of the walk or bike being given to applicants. It is usually reserved for thsoe with injuries, precluding them from the run. I can tell you that I regularly bike nad that I, along with all the guys I know that have tried both, prefer the run over the bike. It is a rather difficult test. I have no idea about the walk. Iw ould have to look that one up! In fact, I have never heard of ANYONE taking it!

Damn I'm good!!! :D
Well partially good anyway. I would much rather run as well. I have taken a few spin classes here at my ghetto gym, and I must say it does a number on my knees.
They sure do want a lot of paper work. I'll be showing up with one big @$$ binder full of paper work.
Switchback is the rest accurate about the FIT? One minute test on both the pushups as well as the situps?
My inly concern is time of day, and where we end up running as I'm sure it will be very hot in South Florida by the time I make it (should I make it that far) to the FIT, Bring your own food and water they say.

I'd at least bring some food to eat, there wasn't enough time to get something to eat. When I did the assessment in Atlanta, they had tons of water available. Good to keep hydrated. I started the day early and had the FIT around 3pm --- in HotLanta --- in August. Still, if you're prepared, you're prepared. The only problem I had was that I drank so much water I had to piss and there was no bathroom once we got to the track to run.

Running in HotLanta at 3 Pm. Freak that!!!
I'm in good shape, but I'm not crazy to be running around in HotLanta at 3 Pm or South Florida at the same time, but I would make an exception to the rule this one time. I wonder if I can run with my camel back?
I can't eat and run, but I will be drinking plenty of fluids. Then again I can grap something lite early in the AM. My interview starts at 0700.

I believe the USMS also "tests" your body fat % along with the other tests.
