Too many times

I need your honest opinions! I have used marajuana 10 times in my life. The last time being 6 years ago. Please be brutally honest with my chances in LE.

Do your research on those agencies you are interested in, and be sure to be brutally honest yourself during their polygraph (if they have on).

Each agency has their own standards, I'm not sure but I want to say that you fall outside of their time requirements for not having touched the stuff, so you should be ok, but again, remember that there will be other equally qualified applicants out there that have never done drugs, and limited slots will/should go to them first, but that is only my brutally honest opinion.

Really depends upon the agency policy and where you are looking. 10 times is more than enough, but is for example the magic number for ATF, more and it would be a bar. You really need to determine the policies of the agencies in which you are interested and as Capt. Ridely wisely notes, recognize that it is a competitive process. Still, I would be encouraging you too proceed.

For the FBI, I recall the number 15, but I do not recall the years-back number.

Ok, troops. Adult conversation here. If this is all socially acceptable and the fault lies with a misplaced legislative focus on drugs, howcum everybody always knows to the exact number every time they used something? I mean we ask about alcohol and folks answer "I dunno, been drunk some number of times, can't recall what with being drunk and all" Ask about drugs it's always "6.2365 times, Sir!" Ask an experienced interrogator and they will tell you, this is an admission that the person believes they were outside their concept of right and wrong.

It isn't all about arbitrary standards, you come to us day after day and admit it was outside yours. So fine, Amazing Grace and all. Once I was lost and now I'm found.

Here's a clue, partied hard in school and did drugs within an acceptable amount and quit that because you grew up. Cool. Out there going, "Hot Damn, got 6 more to go." We will see it and we will reject you.

Yes, the FBI policy is you can't have used marijuana at all in the past 3 years, or more than 15 times in your life.
