View Full Version : acdamey "roadwork"- "teambuilding"
can someone describe a workout used at acdemies where the cadets run a certain distance say 1 mile or so give or take and somewhere in there the instructor has you drop down and do a certain number of pushups/situps, cals etc then the cadet gets back up and continues running for another set distance?
this sounds like a great way to increase your endurance and stamina, so if some people can give examples of a good workout, please post.
thanks!
We sometimes did something like that in the Marine Corps. and it was exactly as you described - run a certain distance, stop, pushups, sit-ups, side straddle hops (jumping jacks), etc.
We've done it at FLETC where you run around inside the gym and stop at "stations" that have prescribed excerscises: 30 seconds of pushups, etc. You can station equipment there as well, like jump ropes. You can also certainly do this outside, too.
When I played rugby, we used to do a thing called an indian run. You run in a line at a jog and pass the ball as you run from man to man towards the back of the line. When the guy in the rear gets the ball, he sprints to the front and it all starts again. That will definitely wear you out if you run more than a couple of miles.

You might want to check around your local parks. I have one right across the street here that has fitness stations for dips, pullups, pushups, situps, hops, balance beams, etc spread out through the "trail", which is really just a wide sidewalk that goes around the lake. I try to hit it every Saturday morning. That plus the heat make it a killer workout.
