I was just curious at what supplements everyone out there is taking. So, if you could just post what you are taking and maybe a little info on why.

The only thing I am taking right now is L-carnitine.

Here is a quote from Men's Health
L-carnitine
What is it? An amino acid that helps move fat cells through the body so they can be burned as energy

Should you take it? Yes. Your body's demand for the substance may exceed its natural production. "A carnitine deficiency could definitely lower your energy level," says John Beard, Ph.D., a professor of nutritional science at Penn State University. Take between 250 and 500 mg a day. You can find plenty more information on L-carnitine by just googling it.
I was also taking protein suppliments, but I belive I am getting enough protein currently.

Later,
Matthew

I supplement my daily diet with a Venti Starbucks Chocolate Brownie Frappucino, whether I need one or not.

I take whey because protein is very fundamental in developing strength.

I also take glutamine and creatine because these two stood the test of time in terms of effectiveness and, in my opinion, safety.

I don’t take any amino acids because aminos are the building blocks of protein. Taking protein (chicken, when, etc.) means that I get all (the whole, complete list of them) the aminos. Also, aminos don’t seem to be all that popular with the body builders (who are usually the types to try anything), as far as I can see.

I have been experimenting with partial doses of ephedra based products. For those of you who don’t know, ephedra (aka Ma Huang), is the controversial weight-loss nutritional supplement, that the FDA is considering banning. It has never given me the gitters like some claim. For me caffeine is more of an “upper” than ephedra. However, ephedra doesn’t seem to be helping me cut fat all that much either. It does, however, seem to help me stave off that hungry feeling.

Glucosimine, controiton for joints.

Salmon oil, flax seed oil which is supposed to help cut fat because they contain essential fats.

Not a Starbucks fan, but I like your style! :lick: YUM!

This forum should prove useful for me. I am a large framed individual carrying a bit extra which would be best removed prior to my entering a LEO job.

L-carnitine sounds like a good supplement, backed up by Men's Health as GoghUA posted. Also, salmon oil sounds like a good one, supported by the GNC website.

found on the GNC Website
Salmon Oil provides dietary support for joint health along with DHA and EPA, these Omega-3 fatty acids help support the cardiovascular system.*

Each capsule contains 1000 mg of oil derived specifically from salmon. Providing:

EPA which is important for the circulatory system*
DHA which is vital for a healthy heart and important for vision and brain cell functions*

Consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. FDA evaluated the data and determined that, although there is scientific evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive.

Great for those who don’t consume fish on a regular basis.

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Unfortunately I am not the most active person in the world either. Hopefully that will change as I read here other ideas, tricks, etc. here.
