drug use in past a problem?

if drugs were experimented with in high school(marijuana)and are not lied about in background check, no criminal history at all, will this lead to a rejection into the fire department. even if drug tests are passed and all other scores are high. should i look into the private fire sector instead?

Well that all depends on the dept. What have they told you about past drug usage? Some allow and some don't. As long as you are honest with everything then you shouldn't have a problem.

Your best bet is to find out what standard the dept you are applying to has.
