Does anyone know of any CONTOMS classes being held in the New England area?

CONTOMS has been in financial trouble lately because it was a federally funded program and lost almost all of its budget. However, being in the NE area several of the factory academies offer a tactical EMT course. S&W Academy and the SIG academy come to mind. I will look into CONTOMS and see if I can find out anything.

Stay safe.

Thank you Jim I appreciate it. I took a con-ed over the weekend about tactical EMS and now I have it in my head that if I can find a course somewhere in New England I'll plan a vacation around attending. I had heard that Mass. State Police are running something (not sure if its CONTOMS or not) but its already started so looks like I'm a day late and a buck short on that note. Either way thanks for the quick reply.

CONTOMS is officially dead. The funding was cut a few years back. However as I mentioned above several other training organizations run tactical EMS courses. The quality may vary widely. The organization that originally ran CONTOMS is the Casualty Care Research Center. They now run an EMT-Tactical course as well as sponsor biennial TEMS conferences. http://www.casualtycareresearchcenter.org/emt-t_provider_program.htm

Colleagues,
I have received contrary info from the Director of CONTOMS; that CONTOMS is going full strength. The next FLETC EMT-T class is scheduled for 08-12DEC2003. CONTOMS will most likely be reorganized under DHS within the Emergency Preparedness and Response Directorate.

Stay safe...

That is very good news. My info came from public sources. If you have HUMINT all the better.
