Don't confuse it being normal with it being OK. You may have that "acid reflux thingy" or probably at the very least, you need a better stress outlet. Congrats on being one of this forums first customers. Now go get a physical!!!

That acid reflux thingy is know as Gastro Espohageal Reflux Disease or GERD for short...sometimes it runs in familys..my dad who is a retired Leo of 25 years has it and I've been luck so far that it hasn't shown up in me yet..but you want to get that looked at..untreated you can run a higher risk of Cancer in the Espohagus..there are several different medications that you can be placed on to help treat it..

What in the world is that?
Mr. Jim - where did you get these figures? I'd like to see the sample size, methodology, and credentials of the investigators. Not disputing the claims, as I'm sure they came up with them somehow...just want to see how they got them.
Thanks!
J.

Don't remember off the top of my head. I think they came from literature from the Northern Illinois CISD Team. Let me check and I'll get back. I highly doubt it has methodology and sample group.
I've seen this stats before and they still ring true. But remember, these aren't self-fulfilling prophecies. LE personnel can make constructive life-style changes to turn these numbers upside down!

Quick Science lesson...at the top of your stomach is a muscle or sphinter that opens and closes allowing for food to enter the digestive tract...people that have GERD..have a overproduction of stomach acid..that in combination with that muscle not closing the top of your stomach correctly can produce persistant heartburn which is uncomfortable..and the acid can overtime eat away at the esophogus lining..which can cause cancer later on as you get older...:firedevil
thx Sgt Jack...
But how is it related to LE? or all the people have the same amount of risk of having/getting it?

Not sure... but I suspect it's inherited in some cases..(thanks dad something else to look forward to as I get close to 30)...but if you factor in shift work..lack of sleep..exercise..increased alcohol..caffeine..poor diet..and the stress from all it's other sources ie the public..bosses..situations that we get into that we didn't choose etc... I would speculate that this could help contribute to a varity of health problems..to include the acid reflux thingy....
That's wonderfull that I fit into that catagory.... 23yo and I have Angina.... Wonderful feeling being 23yo and feeling like your having a heart attack... :(
