I was curious as to where one could go if he/she was interested in getting certified for a CPR couse/classes.

I missed out on 2 job opportunities (federal police officer and campus security officer) because I am not CPR certified. The HR personnel told me that I needed a vaild CPR certification to get the job. I called around to a few local universities to see if they offered such training, but was directed to someone in the Nursing field. That person told me they had nursing classes that taught CPR, but they didn't know how I could get CPR certified?

I searched online but only found online exams, and take home tests that were sent to your house. I'd much rather learn the right way with a proper instructor.

Any help would be appreciated.

This site should be able to steer you in the right direction.

or the American Heart Association...

Both can be found in your area quite easily and classes are cheap and nationally recognized.

ARC is good, I teach all of their curriculum and they tend to change their curricula as the times change....anyway easy to do just contact your local chapter.

You can also check with your local fire/ems department. I know our's does cpr class for the public. Also our local hospitals hold them also.

Getting a CPR Card isn't hard. Where in South Jersey you at? I'm in central jersey. If worst comes to worst that you REALLY can not find a cpr class down there I will hook you up with a class here in Middlesec County.

nyfo: I live in pennsville. it's right by the delaware memorial bridge. I checked two universities: salem community college and camden county college. Salem offered a CPR and first aid class but is not certified by the American Red Cross. Camden county offers a nice program that consists of lifeguard training, CPR, and first aid certifications, but the courses run like a regular college class for the whole semester, conflicting with my current work schedule. I'm looking for a 1 or 2 weekend type course. but I will get on the phone with local fire depts. next.

Thanks for the help everyone

Yea, calling your local FD or better yet, first aid / rescue squad should be the best route. The class should only take a matter of so many hours. Good luck.
