View Full Version : Hiring stress?

I'm pretty light hearted, tend to take and give jokes pretty well...and feel I'm pretty good at finding ways to relieve stress. Today I found myself getting really stressed at work. I started thinking about getting "the call" with a job offer...and pretty much wasted the whole day starring at my computer screen. Luckily things are slow around here, this week, because of the holidays.

I haven't been in the whole hiring process nearly as long as most people. I'd say I'm below average, for time spent waiting. My first app went out in February 2002. I feel like I am getting tired of waiting, however. Its got to be the home stretch feeling...getting really close, but not quite there yet. How do folks deal with that kind of tension? I've been kicking my butt to start working out more, as I dropped the ball there in the last month or so (probably 2 now...geesh).

Thanks for the space to ramble.

Working out is DEFINITELY the first step. It will do wonders for your stress levels and make you feel a whole lot better.

Second is your mind set. You have to come to terms with control. YOU don't control the process of selection, therefore why stress over things you can't control?? This process is going to happen without your active participation (you're awaiting selection) so why stress over it??

Tell yourself that you will not stress out over things that you have no control. Workouts will make the world of difference during this period. Watch your intake of fatty foods and liquor. It's easy to think that your mellowing out on liquor during this period, yet aiding greatly to your fat intake.

Monitor your lifestyle closely. Most of us who've been out of control on the stress meter can relate that we were well aware of our imbalances. We just chose not to correct this or that. When your out of balance, you pay.

WORK AT IT! DM
