I'm buying a set of meprolight night sights for my Glock 19. I am undecided between the all green and the green front/yellow rear. Does anyone have any experience with different colored rear sights? Thank you

I have only used the all green and liked them. I have seen an increased interest in different colored rear and front sights to properly align the sights under stress. Recently there was some press about a deputy sheriff who accidently shot another deputy in a shootout. Reportedly the deputy had night sights and could not tell which was the front. Well, he lined them up except the front sight was not in the middle, it was on the right side causing him to shoot his co-worker. After hearing that, I gave some thought to the bar-dot sights or something else. To me, whatever the color combination, the front sight needs to be the brightest as your eyes will need to quickly pick up on it. Hope that may be some food for thought.

I have Trijicon yellow (rear) and green (front) sights on my personal gun, and I like them a lot. They are definitely distinguishable from one another, with the yellow being slightly fainter than the green. I know that there are several companies that offer red, orange, blue, and all sorts of other colors for the rear sights, and I would consider these as well.

The only drawback to the exotic color is that with red and blue especially, they get very faint, meaning picking them up in a low light situation is difficult. It needs to be almost pitch black for them to stand out. I assume this has to do with a color filter being placed in front of the tritium tube. You have to filter the light to change the color because the light emitted by the tritium is green. This is the reason I went with the yellow because it is the brightest of the non-green sights.

Try this link for one such manufacturer of different colors:

Now, on the other hand, my duty weapon has green/green nightsights, and even though I prefer the color combinations, I have not yet had a problem determining which dot was which. All three dots are bright, with the same intensity. Even though I haven't mixed up which dot was which, yet, I sometimes need to shift the muzzle up and down when acquiring the sights to find the front one, and that slows down my first shot by a second or two.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention, since this was a post about the Meprolights. I have heard nothing but good stuff about the Meprolights and Trijicons. They are both sorta pricey when compared to some other manufacturers such as PT. I have however heard, about three years ago, that PT's had a problem with the adhesive that held the lens and tritium tubes in place. Some powder solvents, and other harsher cleaning solvents could disolve the adhesive, and the lenses and tubes could end up in your hand. Don't know if this information was accurate, or if the problem has been solved. Never heard of this with Meprolights or Trijicons, though.

Your info is correct. The Trijicons also have their white rings (for daylight use) "painted" on, and likewise have the possibility of fading from using solvents and such. This is the main reason I'm going with the meprolights. I will probably also go with the yellow rear, thanks a lot for your help.
