I was wondering if anyone had any information on the NJSP's policy for hiring as far as drug usage is concerned. I have experimented with drugs in the recent past, but once I found out what I really wanted to do (be a NJ state trooper) I ceased all usage. However, since I am a junior in college, when I apply it will not have passed the 3 year mark for usage that DQs a person. I was just wondering how strict the policy is.
;)
Not sure about the NJSP's specific policy, but you can be sure that any agency that has a minimum time since usage (ie more than 3 years ago) is going to stick very strictly to that. If you've used anything in the past few months you've got almost three years of waiting ahead of you. Different agencies have different policies about what kinds of drugs you are allowed to have used, so it's worth checking into that. Some agencies don't allow any use of anything harder than marijuana.

Marijuana is usually 3 years since last use, and hard drugs are either 10 years or automatic DQ's. These policies are set in stone. Any deviance from them could be a possible lawsuit for the agency. I wouldn't count on getting a break in this case. Sorry.

Not if that's your dream, just maybe wait a little longer till the three years is up. Sweet win by the Pack today!!!!!!!!!!
