As a relatively new user to the board I wanted to pick everyone's mind about this topic eventhough it may have been already brought up. Although not everyone here is not on the Canadian border working as I am, the shipments of mj make it to the streets throughout the entire country on a daily basis. If the Canadians do decriminalize the garbage does anyone else believe the Administration should impliment the "old" zero tolerance policy where vehicle seizures occur for even relatively small amounts? First and foremost LEOs on the Northern border should be and are concerned with large commercial shipments of mj. I believe that if the Canadian government goes that route, we should be tougher. Thanks for listening...

On the federal side, the US Attorney's Office will make a decision on minimum amounts for vehicle seizure. TECHNICALLY, you could seize a vehicle for a very small amount of MJ.

This is not going to be an LE decision, but a political one for sure.

In conversation with some friends working for the Vermont State Police they are very nervous about this possibility. Very understaffed and the courts are generally liberal about marijuana. It will surely be interesting to see what will happen when the Canadians de-criminalize.
