View Full Version : Patch know-nothing asks: is it a bad idea for me to ask?

I have a buddy who works at the school who's a retired San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy. To say he's been helpful and a great source of encouragement and advice as I pursue my LE dream job would be an understatement.

He collects LE patches and recently asked a favor of me, and I feel obliged to help. His last name is Mesa, you see, and since my reservejob in USAF is in AZ, he asked me if I could get him a patch from either A) The Mesa, AZ Police Dept., or B) the Mesa, AZ Fire Dept., or both.

I figured I'd go to each station when I go back to Phoenix next month and personally ask for such a patch, but will they think I am weird for asking?

With all of the post-9.11 PersSec and OpSec concerns, will such a request by me be deemed inappropriate? Unusual?

Just asking so I don't do or say anything that makes me look dumb or possibly suspicious. I have no experience with these things at all.

Thanks for any and all guidance, folks...

Scott

They aren't going to think you are weird. A lot of departments actually sell them. I would just go there and tell them what you just posted here and they may give you one.

Good Luck.
