Hey I just did some research on what is required to become a fire fighter. I have been looking all of this stuff over since I graduated high school and thought I was ready. I took the TABE test and passed that no problems, but then the more reading I did, the less likely it looks to become one... it states that I need a 20/30 vision without contacts / glasses and no history of night blindness in the family (it runs in the family). Does this completely disqualify me? I really want to be a fire fighter, it's been a life long dream and now from my understanding it just got shut down. What do you guys know about this?

Also, if this requirement has some form of exceptions, would there be any difference if I went to school in FL, then moved out to CA to start?

When it comes to entrance requirements, including vision, it varies from department to department. The only advice I can give you is to check the requirements at any dept. you are interested in. You will find differences. Good Luck.
