Anyone have any recommendations on a good off-duty holster for my new glock 23?

Holster selection is pretty individual. I use an Aker "flatsider" pancake or a FIST ultrathin kydex IWB both on the strong hip depending on how much concealment I need. I also have a fanny pack holster that I use for certain applications but not routinely.

I don't care for the fanny packs. I am deciding between a pancake or an inside the waistband style. I am also looking for comfort, security as well as easy access. Just curious as to what most people are using. I carry a Beretta 96D on duty which is a pain for off-duty carry. I had a glock in the past, but it was a 27 which I carried in an ankle holster. So far I like the 23 . It is perfect for off duty concealed and still comfortable to shoot. In my opinion the 27 was too small and not as much fun to shoot.

I have a Fist #K3 kydex J-hook IWB which I am fond of. It is fairly comfortable, protects my gun, and was reasonably priced about $42 as I recall. The kydex is very thin and it adds minimum bulk when stashing the gun in the waistband. CBP (legacy customs)approves the Aker XR12 Flat Sider for off duty carry along with a short list of other holsters. As it happens I have discovered that I really like this holster. It is very comfortable, has good concealability and has held up really well. I paid about $43 for that as well. I mostly carry in the Flatsider but in hot weather will go to the IWB with an untucked polo shirt.
I assume you are a Patrol Agent. I know I wouldn't want to carry the Beretta off duty. I carry a Glock 17 successfully in the manner I've described, should work for a 23.
Stay Safe, John
P.S. The Aker has a thumb break, the IWB doesn't.

I carry my 23 on my ankle. I know there are pros and cons to ankle holsters but I was sold on it once I qualified. I also carry an extra mag and cuffs on the other ankle, so I'm balanced out. You have to wear baggier pants but it is alot less conspicuous than wearing a vest or untucked shirt.

I run a Fobus paddle. I happened to come across a model with a retention lever which securely locks upon the 23's trigger guard.
I have yet to have it shift on me as I locate it behind my hip and the ears of the paddle agreessively bite into my pants / 1 3/4" belt.

The 23 doesn't print (unless I add the +2 on the DF pre-ban mags).

Removal of the paddle is a breeze. Makes it kinda nice when your running for the can!

Regards!

Wow..carrying a Glock 23 on your ankle! I tried carrying a 27 in an ankle rig several years ago and quickly learned that they (ankle holsters) were not my cup of tea. For some reason I felt like I was walking funny with all the extra weight, and that was only with a 27, not a 23. For me, I decided on an Uncle Mike's inside the pants holster. It is is cheap, will not print, stays put, and at around $10 is a great deal...

I'm hoping it will improve my agility test and mile and a half times :D

I do carry a mag and handcufff pouch on the other ankle to even out the weight. This prevents me from "pimp" walking, or looking like Huggy Bear from Starsky and Hutch.
