View Full Version : badge polishing
what do you guys and galls use to polish your badge and where to you get it?
Good question. I've been using Neverdull for several years with no problem. Other guys have told me not to because it takes the finish off of it. I haven't had a problem yet.

Any "polish" is going to eventually take the finish off. A lot of badges come with a clear coat on them to prevent tarnishing. I you have one of these or a "karat clad" (gold plaited) I wouldn't polish the badge but just clean it with alcohol or glass cleaner. For polishing I'm another one that likes "never dull".

This may sound weird but all well i was growing up my dad would clean his with tooth paste and a tooth brush. Then he would take semi chrome (polish for chrome that can be found usually at motorcycle shops) and polish it with that. For spot polishing he used windex. He always has had and will alsways have the brightest badge.
Liquid Blue Magic, metal polish. I've used ot for years and I think (my opinion) that it works better then never-dull. You can find it at any automotive supply store (pep-boys, trak auto, auto zone). Every two months I'll take some spray-on rim cleaner with a toothbrush to get all the polish residue out of the grooves and corners.

The instructions that came with my Park Police badge (Blackinton) said to hand wash it with dishwashing detergent. It was obvious who polished theirs because they looked brassier. The Park Police would also issue you a temporary badge while your badge was re-finished, usually because they would get scratched up from repeated use (they only issued us one badge).

FedRich-- USPP has to have the most beautiful badge in all of LE. Agree?
It is probably the most unique badge that I have seen (or worn). I wasn't able to keep it but do have some of the special event badges such as the Millennium and Presidential Inauguration. I also liked my Marshal's star, because of the history associated with it.
But my new favorite is the Commerce SA badge, which has a tall ship and lighthouse on it. It definitely appeals to my nautical side.
