Do speical agents get to choose what weapon (particular type of 9mm) when they graduate Quantico? I imagine you would have to qualify with it if you wanted to leave your issued firearm at home.

Current standard issue: Glock 22 .40
Yes there is a list of what pistols can be used for duty, incl. Sig P228 9mm and others. Yes you have to qualify.
