I was just wondering if in order to get a top secret clearance do u need to not have any prior drug usage. (Specifically, marijuana approx 10-15 times).

And how many years since last usage is it, i know the basic amount of years tends to be 3 years but I was wondering if Top Secret requires more years since last use.

I dont need replies regarding the use of drugs and its wrong doings. I am aware of the consequences I must face due to bad decisions by me and I am aware of me being at fault for them. I'm just curious to if I would ever be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance.

The BI and processing, including screening and the poly are not just about suitability for employment but also accomplish the security clearance. To get either (or both) you must be within the agency standards, typical ones are posted in the first thread in this forum. Your overall number of uses is on the high side if 15 and at the limit at 10.

ATF sac is right on the money, as he is more knowledgable on agency policies, from a former military standpoint i can tell you there is no magic number for a TS in general. they weigh everything as a whole. the TS investigation, although determines suitability is highly weighed on truthfulness on the form. This alone would not DQ u from a TS, however it may DQ u from certain agencies. I.E USSS marijuana policy is no (edited by moderator).
