Any news on what the new policy will be? I am hearing that its between the Beretta, Glock or HK 40.
Thanks

The new policy is there isn't one yet.
The reason being is because they have find a time where they can all get together to come to an agreement concerning the the last meeting that they haven't come to an agreement on yet.
The October 2003 ICE draffirearms/use of force policy is quite extensive and thought out, almost 40 pages if I recall. I just hope they increase the options considered for off duty; it looks as if they took all current duty handguns used by DHS legacy agencies and made a master list (which is ok but not the best for off duty). I'll take it though.
Hope Mr. Garcia gets this done soon. ;)

See I am standing here reading this with my PFI and he says that it does permit personally own weapons. They have to be weapons that are on the NFTTU list. So who knows.
Just to throw out another rumor. Some of us went to the Smith and Wesson 150th anniversary conference in Springfield Mass. a few weeks back. There was a lot of good training and shooting but S&W claims that the final selection of the ICE issued weapon was between them and H&K. The S&W pistol would be the S&W99 which is a good weapon but I have a hard time believing that we are gonna get rid of all our Glocks.
Plus if you ask Glock or Beretta I bet they would say the same thing.

The draft policy allows for personally owned handguns but only those weapons currently in use by the numerous entities which make up ICE. They are currently testing and evaluating new duty handguns. I had heard if a new maker is selected they will replace the Glocks only after they have reached a certain amount of ammo fired through the weapon (only that ammo which you have fired during quarterly training or other agency training. Personal training and ammo will not be counted.) or time in the field. I heard the #'s but can't remember right now. I had also heard that in their search for a new maker that they want a "family" of weapons (fullsize, compact, subcompact). I heard the only reason the policy is being held up is some wording issues (legacy INS vs. legacy Customs). Other than that is is good to go.

I've heard the same thing while in HQ regarding the a family of guns, full size, compact, sub compact from one manufacturer, but i also heard it must be produced in all calibers used by DHS (9mm, .40, and 357 Sig). I also heard it contains a back-up for CBP uniformed officers/agents.

The S&W99 series comes in compact and standard for the 40 cal and 9mm and in .45 standard too. So maybe they are in the running for final choice.
