Does anyone have any personal experience or opinions on this pistol? I know there was a recall on it awhile back. I was thinknig of buying it but might just pay the extra money for a Sig SP2340. I'll be shooting both before I make up my mind. Thoughts?

Thanks.

I dont own one nor have I ever seen one in person but these are some of the reviews from people that have them:

As much as I like anything that says 'Beretta' on it, I can't get myself to like this gun no matter how hard I try.

While I find the grip fat but OK, the safety is WAY too stiff to take off in a hurry. I hear folks say it'll break in, but I don't want to chance $500 on something that may or may not work when it needs to.

Slide is difficult to manipulate. This makes clearing malfunctions a real @#$@#.

The pros is the trigger actually feels OK, and it accepts standard 15-round magazines.
-------------------

I hate this gun for so many reasons.

It's the Ford Edsel of Beretta's. According to a person I know who works for Beretta, Beretta never asked around to find out what exactly people wanted in a ploymer pistol. Beretta was also limited by insisting that the gun have certain features which helps explain why it's so wide. For a so called "compact gun" it's like holding a brick and the much touted grip is slippery and wide as heck.

When Beretta does the right research you get guns like the Elite II and the new Vector(or whatever ist's called). When they don't and do some things to just make money you get guns like the Courgar and 9000.

------------------------
Don't like the 9000s. The Cheetah is much nicer, but....

Try the Cougar 8000 (9mm). You might be surprised.

------------------------

The gun is a great gun. I have seen a lot of negative posts on the gun on this and other forums but I love the gun. Shoots well, is reliable (I have only had a few failures to eject and a few failures to feed in close to 1500 rounds through the gun).

Feels good in my hand. It looks good as well, though that is not as important as it's shooting well and reliably.

The funny thing is my wife (who I bought the gun for) does not like the recoil. I guess the polymer frame gives it a bit more kick. She liked my full size 45 (Kimber CE II) better. I guess an all metal frame makes it less recoil-sensitive.

Most posts are negative on the grip (too clubby), but if it fits your hand well (as it does mine), it's a good gun. I've seen some posts on slide being too difficult to rack and while it was more difficult initially then my other guns, it gets better with time.

Having the decocking lever is a real plus for carry and the double action to single action trigger transition is something one has to get used to in any DA/SA gun. Practice makes perfect.

I got a Sparks VM-2 for it and I love it.

So take it all with a grain of salt :D

No problem there are more if you go to HERE (http://www.1911forum.com/forums/) It's devoted to the 1911 but people post many other pistols/rifles.

Sorry, but I do not recall the details on the recall. It was awhile ago, maybe as far back as 2000 (wow, ca nthat be?). Beretta addressed it and all seems fine now. I think the recall had to do with accidental discharge of the firearm. I big problem, of course.
