View Full Version : Yet another watch question
I tried to piggy back on the last watch thread but didn't get any responces. I'm hoping it was because I didn't get in until the second or third page.
Anyway, what do you guys think about the luminox series. I just got one of the Navy Seal ones that appears to be pretty sturdy. Its a stainless steel dive watch with a saphire cystal. Any feedback would be appreciated. Positive or negative.
I think Gonzo just got one - not sure, though.
On that topic, I have a Breitling that I'm very happy with, but I considered a Luminox for the same reasons that I got the Breitling: they seem pretty much indestructible. If you don't have a lot of use for all the bells and whistles, like lap timers, alarms, etc. and just want to know what time it is, accurately , 24/7, no matter where you find yourself - in the mud, the rain, in the desert or adrift in the Bering Sea, a Luminox may be just for you. Navy SEALs probably wouldn't endorse or use a wimpy watch. I only got the Brietling because I had always wanted one.
Just my opinion

Gotta love the Breitlings! Wish I could get a Chronomat -- but I like my Transocean. A big difference in terms of price compared to a SEALs luminox watch. But those SEALs watches are good watches, and the stainless models are nice.
Thanks for the insight. So far I'm very happy with the one I purchased.

SEALs didn't endorse the watch, from what I've heard...that said, I've heard they are very reliable watches...might check with mkiiwatches.com and look at the customized Luminox's...go beyond the ordinary :D

"Endorse" was a bad word choice; essentially, they allowed the company to put their name on it, so I'm sure it's quite a bit tougher than the NASCAR digital watch you get at a truck stop for $8.99 :). You know the one: instead of being water resistant, it's "moisture" resistant...

I think that's refered to as "Miller resistant"

I've had the series II SEALS watch for a couple of years now. I've been pretty happy with it, no problems, and built pretty sturdy.
On a side note, just got me a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch as well, woo-hoo! :D
