I have about 2 week left of the academy left.
Iam a class leader and want to just nock the crap out of half of my fellow cadets.
We are taught that we are a team and will finish as a team.
But the team thing has fallen apart, they are so worried about pear evaluations and not on what we have left. There is so much back stabbing and no one will lissen to the class leaders. On runs they complane that it is to hard or to hot or to fast.
Some of them that I was freinds with have really gotten bad, they have conditional hires and think they are all that, well they dont have the job yet.
Some dont have the nerve to run into a building with a active gunman and will
leave you standing in a room by your self. Iam here to become a police officer not to sit and talk crap about people during class or after class.
I will back up anyone when need on our senarios. I will not complane that it is 100 deg out side and have to run 3miles.

It is really had to get the attitude to do what you need to do when they are asking if I will give a good evaluation to them at the end of class.
I did stand up and told them if another person asks me about evaluations I will give them a bad one, it did stop.
I just need to get this off my chest so I can focus on what need to be done.
Thanks

Relax a bit..
I just graduated from academy and although I wasn't a class leader the same thing happened. This is how to determine good candidates. People are tired and probably not getting much sleep, so they are loosing focus. They are showing signs of lack of discipline. What you need to focus on is what really matters. If you get to petty disciplining everyone for every little thing then you will pulling your hair out. Don't take it personal. This is not a personal attack on yourself. It is a lack of discipline on the part of others. I feel a good characteristic of a peace officer is one who knows how to stay focused. Let the bad candidates weed themselves out. The instructors and coordinators remember all this, and when those candidates apply at the department they will be in for a rude awaking when they get a bad evaluation from an instructor who may work at the department they are applying at.
You have a couple of weeks left, don't sweat the small stuff. Hold it together the best you can. Our last class leader was awesome. This guy knew when to discipline and when not to. I felt comfortable speaking to him about anything. I never seen him in a bad mood.
I hope some of this info. helps. Remember there are going to be bad apples out there including personality conflicts wherever you go. However you must be able to function with various personalities and not stress yourself out dealing with people.
