Hello everyone.
I just found this site while surfing with google. This site looks awesome with all the info it provides. Well, I better get to my question. I was given a contigent job offer with a local L.E. department. I am 35 years old. The thing is I was diagnosed with depression 4 years ago and have been taking wellbutrin twice daily(type of medication is important). I am recovered now for about 3 years, however my doctor and I feel it is my best interest to keep taking medication to prevent any relapse of depression. I have functioned fine after being treated and have an excellent work history only taking time off for my illness during that period. I have never been fired from any job. I graduated 4th in a class of 60 at an academy that is said to be one of the toughest in Ca.
Before starting the academy I spoke with the commander of the department I wanted to work in. I was open and told him of my medical condition. He said it is not uncommon for people these days to suffer depression. He asked me if I had it under control, and I told him I did. The commander knows my medical history and was part of the oral panel interview. I did well in the oral interview and then began my backgrounds, which cleared.
I took my psych last Friday and was open and honest on the questionaire about my depression history. I am very comfortable talking about it because it is a very treatable disease. I answered the psychs questions honestly and after we talked for about 10 minutes or so, I took the questionaire/bubble sheet tests with about 950 true or false questions about my personality. I felt as if I did well on all but 1 of the test. It was called a spacial relation test. It had to do with arranging colored blocks in a pattern matching a picture I given to use as a guide. I was too slow the pysch said. He told me that when I get to my department I may have trouble conducting investigations due to my lack of detail. He recommended that I play more video games. I didn't argue, however the picture was smaller than the size of the actual blocks and if it was enlarged to the size of the blocks, the color pattern would be different(it would cover more area than the blocks), and that was what through me for a loop. Well I finished up the test about 31/2 hours later. The psych evaluator took my phone number in case he had any questions, and told me that my L.E. department would give me the results. I thanked him and left. I know that this week the Police Chief of the department is on vacation and so if the psych evaluator. Does anyone know how long it takes to get results back?
So, with all this info. I gave, do I have a good chance of passing? Does anyone have a similar experience about themselves.
