Anyone else out there ever experience this: you're sitting in your car, maybe at a light, maybe in traffic, maybe you're on a surveillance, or just driving through a rough part of town, and you suddenly feel like you're the only "Good Guy" out there, and you're surrounded by perps and "Bad Guys" who'd just as soon take you out as cut you off on the freeway, and there's no back up? You could get it right there, and no one would give a sh*t?!

And this is NOT to be confused with paranoia.... But just that brief, 'sinking feeling' that for a moment, you're all you got, even if you've got more. Then it fades away as quickly as it comes.

I guess that's where faith kicks in and prayer and courage does some wonders. Anyhow, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had that feeling flash through them.

Makes you thankful that you have partners and a radio. Very true, I'm not a Police Officer, and even I get that feeling sometimes. A bit different of course, but non the less very alike.

Normal enough, all of us have felt it. Not particularly healthy since it feeds an us vs. them attitude. Spent over a year walking a tough beat and took most of a year to get me past it. Learned folks who you busted will often take your back, learned to work sources and gather street intell. Also learned to be always watchful and sometimes afraid, but in an ok way that causes you to get back up before wading in. It can be ugly out there, but it can also be surprisingly wonderful. Just learn to sort out who it is in a sea of unfriendly faces who is going to take the lead and front them early.
