Son Charged in Stabbing Death of Mother, an NYC Corrections Officer
(Baldwin-WABC, October 11, 2004) — A teenager has been accused of stabbing his mother to death, and then digging a grave to hide her body in a local park.
Eyewitness News reporter Ken Rosato is in Baldwin, Long Island, with more.
His name is Aaron Clark, and police say the 15-year-old is a killer.
Det. Sgt. Dennis Barry, Nassau County Police: "Gail Clark, 48-year-old New York City Corrections captain, lying dead in her bedroom."
Police say that Aaron killed his mother on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., when she discovered he had his 19-year-old girlfriend spend the night at his house, 275 Rose Boulevard in Baldwin. The two started arguing, and cops say the teen stabbed his mother with kitchen knife. While she lay dying, police say he forced her to give him her service gun lockbox combination. She did, and police say he stabbed her again, until she lay lifeless.
Det. Sgt. Dennis Barry: "He actually went to the store, obtained latex gloves, Clorox, cleaning fluids, mops, and was attempting to clean the scene."
Cops say that Aaron then went to Cutter Mill Park in Great Neck where he dug a grave. His girlfriend managed to get away from him at midnight.
Det. Sgt. Dennis Barry: "It was learned that Aaron may have killed his mother, and the girlfriend was in fear of her safety."
Neighbors say the teen and his mother often argued.
First Neighbor: "He complained just a little bit, like, 'Yeah, man, I'm mad at my mom, I don't like her right now.' But I never thought he was ever going to anything like this."
Second Neighbor: "I hear that he may have been mentally disturbed, we saw him a few times going down the street with no shoes on."
Sadly, Miss Clark had planned to retire soon, sell the house, and move herself and her son out of state, and start a whole new life. Now, unfortunately, she is dead, and this young man is facing life in prison, charged with the murder of his mother.
