Police Officer Dies From Injuries Suffered On The Job Last Month
NOVEMBER 24TH, 2004
A New York City police officer died Wednesday from injuries he sustained while chasing a burglar across a Brooklyn rooftop last month.
Officer William Rivera is the fourth police officer killed in the line of duty this year.
On October 2nd he was chasing a suspect in Park Slope when he fell 20 feet, injuring both legs and his back. He underwent a series of complex surgeries, and was recovering in his home when he had a seizure Tuesday night.
Rivera was taken to Wyckoff Hospital, where he died at around 1:30 this morning.
Rivera leaves behind a 7-year-old daughter. The 12-year veteran was 35-years-old.
