Hey fellow COPS.
Our Department is looking at different types of tire deflation devices. We have some outdated ones that Officers do not utilize.
Unlike working the interstate were pursuits go in one direction and roll out spikes can be easy depoyed. We need something that is quick to deploy for those types of vehicles that transverse through alleys, side streets, and neighborhoods.
Any other Officers working with equipment that has served them well?

I still like the good old stop sticks. I have zero experience with the roll out kind you are speaking of. Stop sticks are easy to put out, as there are no sharp edges if you quickly have to throw them out, and stow away for quick access in the trunk lid...

I was just doing some basic internet searching. I agree with you. I've had better luck with Stopsticks as well.
Several years ago on Mids I watched some of my crew memebers kick off a pursuit on some dirt bags. One of our Midnight Regional CIB Detective's was out and simply pulled off the side of the road, rolled his window down, and threw out the stopstick. Although, it missed and or dirt bad swirved. It really showed that what works and what does not.
Face it guys are not going to take the time, effort, and energy to roll out some crap in the street. Granted it may work for the State Patrol on their glory speedway, but I have lots of questions when it comes to neighborhoods. Heck dirt bad sees it and turns the other way. Yes he can probably do that on the interstate, but chances are in a residential your not going to be ahead of the pursuit. Thus, someone is going to have to throw something out quickly.
It looks like with all the technology, someone could invent a special type shooting device, besides a gun, to deflate tires.
Stopsticks are great. Next county south used them
on a car I was chasing. Three out of four tires.
KHP also uses them.
Driver was EDP and everything ended well.
My brain isnt working, someone got an internet link
for stopsticks?
