Just sent back an old broken mini mite lite that had to be 25 years old and streamlight sent me a brand new streamlight jr at no cost. They stated that becuase they no longer make the mite lite and it had a lifetime warranty they would update it. Is there a better light make out there? If so let me know!

Might want to check out some of the SureFire Products that uses lithum batteries. I've used Maglights, 3 cell (junk), Charable Streamlights (so so), and Surefires (by far better). It seems that Surefires put out a brighter beam. I have tried higher luminus bulbs in my Streamlight rechargable, it just doesn't compare to Surefire.
I will defend that my chargable 3 cell size Streamlight for Street Duty works great (lots of history with this light :) ), you just have to decharge and recharge often. Just my .02

Streamlights are excellent flashlights. I have had two SL-20 lights and a Stinger flashlight for several years. I love them. I have had to change burnt-out bulbs a couple of times, but that has been it. No other problems at all. I also have a couple of Surefires (a Z3 Combatlight; can't remember the other model), and I like them as well. You can't go wrong with either brand.

I have been using a Streamlight Strion for 5 months now and it is worth every penny. Basically it's the same size as the Surefire (a little longer I think) but brighter and rechargeable.

I was using a Streamlight Stinger for my first 5 years on the job, but have recently switched to a Surefire Z2 Combatlight. I must say, I'm quite impressed with the Surefire and wish I would have bought one earlier. Those are the two popular brands at my department and I think the officers with the Surefire are more impressed the flashlight.
As Eaglearm said, I agree with Surefire puts out a brighter beam. I would take any flashlight by either company though based on the reputations of both.
Im with canine, add my vote for the strion!! I cant tell you how much $ I have saved in batteries alone.

I carry a streamlight myself and it has done pretty good. Unfortunaletly the Nickel cadium battery doesn't seem to hold a charge as long as it use to. guess it's time to replace it. :p

Speaking of batteries, the Strion has a lithium ion battery that at least so far is way outperforming the nicads I'm familiar with.

There is a notice from the FBI Kansas City office regarding a Scorpion light from streamlight catching fire due to the lithium batteries shorting out. Lithium batteries have a very high potential to cause fire. If anyone wants a copy of the notice PM me.
