So I had a slight injury while doing some CQB drills this past week...needless to say, where we were training (military post) I had to go to the hospital there. I have never taken much for pain, but they prescribed me PERCOCET. Has anyone out there had to take this "drug" and work at the same time, because I have to admit, this is some good stuff and no wonder it sell so well on the street! Anyway, they told me not to drive while on this, which I still have to since we are back at our working location, but i am just wondering if anyone has taken these and been able to perform your duties as usual?
I wouldn't work while taking Percocet. Most places won't let you since it makes you so loopy.

I wouldn't work while on it. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, I was given percocet. I sat down to watch tv and woke up the next day. Nasty stuff.
Just be carefull with it.

Talk to your doc, he may be able to get you on something lighter that still does the job...I try to stay away from any painkiller that is mentioned in an "E" channel "True Hollywood Story" or a rock star biography. :D
I took percocet for about a week after an injury. I couldn't imagine working and taking it at the same time. It knocked me out. Within 5 minutes of taking one I was half-comatose and drooling all over myself.

When I had pins put in my finger to repair a couple of fractures a few years back I was prescribed Vicodin I took it for two days. On the second day I was sitting in my room watching TV and a buddy of mine came in and asked me what I was doing watching the blue VCR screen. I had beeen sitting watching the blue screen for over an hour(swear to God LOL) and not even noticed it.
I ended up flushing those things down the toilet and going with regular Tylenol.
I just recently had a couple of arteries roto rootered. Whatever they gave me while I was in the hospital reminded me of the early 60's, but we won't go into that. What suprised me was, when I was released, the doctor gave me some percoset. I really didn't need it. There just wasn't that much pain. It just surprised me that a pain releiver of that strength was just casually dished out.

I just wouldn't mess with Percoset. It's often way too heavy for the pain levels to be managed. I like Tylenol IV's for recovery type pain which actually are OTC in Canada. (Ask any hockey fan about hangover pain and they've got a stockpile). 1/4 grain of codeine aids the Tylenol for some relief. Percs are just too heavy for me. DM

A couple of years ago I was prescribed this after a surgery and I only took it at night (that's when the pain was the worst) and I slept so well. After 5 nights I decided to not take it and I couldn't sleep, I was irratated, I was sweating... basically I was going through mild withdrawls. As soon as I realized this I got up and flushed them all down the toilet, and to this day I will not take a percocet prescription.

I got my septum fixed 2 years ago and during the surgery they took my adnoids and tonsils out. They gave me perkocet, the first dose i took i ended up relaxing out in my back yard catching some rays. The only problem was it was around 20 degrees out in Febuary and i figured id work on my tan..... i took the stuff for 1 week and when i got off of it i was twitching, that was the last timei took anything like that crap.
