Has anyone on here seen or used one of the Glock plugs. They are a little plug piece that fits into the open hole on the bottom of the grip, directly behind your magazine.
It is said that these help to keep debris from entering the internal mechanisms of the weapon. I figured there would be at least one or two people certifiedto work on Glocks on here that might be able to confirm if these things are actually worth purchasing or not.

The reason for this space is to install a lanyard. Yet, American Law Enforcement does not utilize the lanyard concept. :o
I use them on my G22 and G23. It does keep out debrie as advertised. For unknown reasons, lots of Glock users do not use them. Look at their guns without it and you'll see dust bunnies.
Apparently, the idea came from a foriegn army and soldiers that used the Glock in the desert. When they exchanged their mags and dirt was plugged in the gap, this dirt was later found inside the chamber area. This caused malfunctions.
If your not going to install a lanyard, plug the whole. It will keep the dirt out.

I would think the plug would interfere with any speed loading and malfunction clearing. If you clean your weapon on a regular basis, dust, dirt or any other foreign object should not be a problem. I never heard the lanyard story. What I know of the hole is it's for speed stripping the magazine out. If you know different then I will stand corrected.
My feeling is that the hole would be an easy thing for Glock to fix if they thought it could be a problem. And, they haven't.

I've never had a problem with mag changes or malfunction drills.
Some in LE, a majority of low speed cops (I work around some) are lazy and only clean their gun when they shoot theire yearly qualification course.
Only Glock could answer why that whole in the handle was put back there. I was banking on the lanyard concept, because that is where a lanyard would hook up.
Maybe I'll contact my source in GA tomarrow for an answer.
