I was at the range the other day and I would say 1 out of 2 rounds that I fired would not load properly. The fired round would eject but when it went to load the next round it would get stuck on the lower lip of the barrel and I would have to smack it with my hand for it to load. It seems like there wasn't enough power in the slide to load the next round. Any one have any thoughts?

Lower lip of the barrel......I think you are talking about the loading ramp, which could be in need of cleaning. The #1 problem I find however is switching ammo. Guns can be picky about the type of ammo that feeds smoothly.

There should be no problem with your slide cycling through. The blowback and subsequent chambering is more violent than one may think. If you dont believe me, ask anyone that has interlocked their thumbs! Good luck with it, but try to remember which ammo feeds well.

Check your recoil spring. I have never seen one fail on a 92 although I have seen many fail on the 96 (.40). A dirty weapon will affect feeding but for this to be the problem the weapon usually has to be really filthy. As stated above ammo is a likely culprit, have you changed lately? You are'nt shooting that Russian stuff are you?

Also make sure you lock your wrist when you fire as the 92 is very sensitive to this.

If its not a filthy weapon, probably not, the first thing that I would check is the magazine. If you were out with say 3 magazines and it was a problem the whole time with all 3 magazines, you got a problem with your gun. However if you were only shooting from the one magazine, that would be the first thing that I checked.

Note if it turns out to be the magazine, never try to fix it. Beat it with a hammer and then throw it away.

Don't forget to check the sides of the locking block for cracks. In the military we used to go through these damn things like coffee. Cracked locking blocks used to cause all kinds of problems. Then again it could just be fouling.

Thanks for the info everyone, I believe I was using federal ammo. And it did happen when I used both magazines. I had this happen the last time I took it out a few months ago but not as much jamming. My uncle gave me this gun a few weeks ago as a present for building him a computer.
Its actually the 2001 limited edition its 1 of 2001 made. He is a retired philly SGT who has a ton of guns and I know it was well taken care of.
