Hmmmm... not sure. I picked the SIG also. All of them are DAO only. No rail or anything like that. Supposedly it's stainless steel with a black finish on top of it. I remember the range guys saying it's the best one since they started issuing them because SIG supposedly resolved the issue of it rusting. They mentioned something about it being 3rd generation since they started issuing it.
I shot well with both SIG and S&W, but now that I think about it, I shoulda went with the Glock (nice and light). LOL.
No rail or anything like that.
thats what i wanted to know (226R = Rail) im gonna guess its not the DAK version too since nypd uses the heavier trigger pull.

did they let you shoot all of the guns at the range or did you try them out on your own?

The 226 the NYPD uses, has the 12 lb pull, and is DAO. No light rail, which doesn't matter since you can't use a gun mounted light in the NYPD anyway.

I got to shoot both at the range, only because they thought that the SIG was too much gun for me. LOL. So the first day they asked if I wanted to shoot the S&W, I said sure, then asked to shoot the SIG on the second day. I don't want to get into it, but briefly, I think it's the shooter, and not the gun that makes the difference.
