anyone have any experience with charles daly pistols? i am thinking about picking up one of their 1911 .45's, the field grade, 5" barrell model. looks like a pertty nice pistol for the money (around $400.00). either that or the charles daly HI-Power clone in 9mm. i have always admired the 1911 style pistol and the Hi-Power and clones...just looking for a relatively inexpensive single action pistol for fun at the range...

thanks in advance!

The only experience I have with them is when they first starting in the 1911 pistols. This was about 5 years ago. At first it was decent but with in the first 500 rounds the hammer would only drop to the half cocked position. This started every few mags and ended up being atleast once a mag if not twice. Had a smith look at it and the internals were crap. Replaced it with wilson combat parts and it ran great. There are alot of fans over at www.1911forum.com Charles Daly has its own forum on the forum. Best bet would be to go over there and ask away. Lots of knowledge and help.
