Please Help -- Stress Index

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me. Im a nursing student and im trying to find out some information about the Stress Index to include in my assignment. I can find the index on the net, but cant find out who invented it, or find it in any books. Does anyone know any more info regarding this?

One of the first researchers to utilize a numeric stress index was Hans Selye. I believe he was a Canadian researcher who drew correlations between stressful events and physical illness. There are others out there now, but I think he was the first (if I remember Psych 101 correctly).
